For over 300 years, the original building, built in the mid-1700s above a private bridge, was the oil mill and mill for Villa Torrigiani, the famous residence of a well-known noble family from nearby Camigliano.
The renovation was carried out with extreme taste and research into details such as chestnut beams and handmade antique terracotta floors, and of course with the restoration of the entire stone façade. The body of the building, developed on three main levels, straddles the large arch supporting the bridge, under which the small stream flows.
The building houses two independent flats, connected to each other on the first and second floors by an internal staircase, as well as a small flat and service rooms on the ground floor.
The flat on the first floor, with its own entrance, consists of a living room with stone fireplace, a study, a large, convivial kitchen with dining area, a bathroom and a bedroom.
On the second floor, with independent access though connected to the lower floor, is another flat, consisting of a large living room with fireplace and open kitchen, two bedrooms and two bathrooms.
From the outdoor area, with a lovely pergola, an ideal space for outdoor lunches and dinners, there is access to the ground floor, where there is the old mill room with a large stone millstone and a characteristic stone wood-burning oven, as well as a small guest flat consisting of a kitchen, living room/bedroom with a floor-to-ceiling view of the watercourse below, and bathroom. Also on this level is the technical room, with laundry and storage room.
Completing this unique property is the 15,000 square metre plot of land, with walkways through the greenery, a small waterfall and the ruins of the original 15th century mill.
The farmhouse is located in the middle of the hilly landscape of Lucca, in the municipality of Capannori, positioned on the 'Strada del Vino'. All the main services are located in Segromigno, about 2 km from the house. The location of the property is strategic for reaching the main art cities of Tuscany such as Lucca 12 km, Pisa 40 km, Florence 70 km. The sea and the beaches of Versilia are about 40 km away.
